"Pierrick came back full of great memories and was truly sad to have left. I cannot express to you how meaningful it was for my wife and I to see the look in his eyes when we picked him up in LA especially when he described everythin he did and the friends he made at Windridge. Pierrick was beaming."

Teaching was Norbert's first profession. He has a B.S. in Secondary Education and a Master's in Computer Science. He taught Junior High, High School and College before turning his passion for camping into a full-time career. Norbert began his career in camping in 1987 while a college professor, spending his summers at camp. In 1999 he decided to devote himself to camp year-round, playing many different roles including aquatics director, head counselor, program director and assistant director. Norbert joined the Windridge Team in 2006 and continues to bring his extensive knowledge of the camping industry to the Windridge experience.
Norbert has four boys; Jacob, Lucas, Karlon and Brennan, all of whom began spending their summers at camp before they were old enough to walk!
Throughout his career, he has remained active in a variety of sports. In college, he was on his school's soccer and alpine ski teams. Since then he has coached soccer, basketball, lacrosse, alpine skiing and wrestling from recreation leagues to college teams. During the winter months you can find him on the trails of many Vermont ski areas.
Today, he continues spending every summer at camp where he and his staff are dedicated to creating a fun, safe and nurturing growth experience for all children with whom they share their summer home!

Susan McNeil, Riding Director
Susan grew up on the eastern coast of Connecticut where horses were an integral part of her life in the areas of riding, judging, training, tending, and breeding. Susan graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Animal Science. While in college, she played on the polo team, was a member of the collegiate horse judging team as well as serving as coach for the team in her senior year. After college, Susan spent a great deal of time at High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Center where she gained additional knowledge about working with children and horses.
In 1997, Susan moved to Vermont and continued her involvement with the equine industry by serving as the Vermont Horse Council secretary and president as well as breeding and showing Morgan horses. She was also employed by the University of Vermont Extension Service as the central region 4-H educator during which time she worked with over 300 youth between the ages of 8 and 18 as well as many adult leaders assisting with the implementation of youth programs.
She currently works in the elementary school system along with providing home care for foster children. Her horses are an integral part of their healing process.
Susan owns Autumn Valley Farm where she enjoys her own horses and giving private horsemanship lessons to area youth. She focuses on teaching the entire horsemanship lesson with kindness, safety, and enjoyment, working with the natural temperaments of both the student and the horses. She currently owns four horses and holds membership in the Vermont Morgan Horse Association, the American Morgan Horse Association, and the Lippitt Morgan Club.
Susan has spent her entire adult life working with horses and children so working at Windridge during the summer is a perfect fit. She has been with us since 2007 and takes great pride in our equine program.
Leon van Voorthuizen, Tennis Director
Leon is in his third season at Windridge. He grew up in the Perth Hills in Western Australia. He has been playing competitive tennis since he was 10. He was multi club champ at both junior and senior levels and has played with and against the top junior prospects from the state. He turned to teaching and coaching at the age of 16, which inspired him to complete a degree in education, specializing in physical education. Alongside his doubles partner and good friend, he created a tennis development squad in the Perth Hills in which he has coached and mentored some of the state's top juniors. Leon has also coached and played tennis in the Netherlands, Canada and here in the US. He is a talented, enthusiastic and energetic coach.
Frank Zurek, Soccer Director
Frank is in his fifth year at Windridge. He was born in Zlin, in the Czech Republic, and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Brno University of Technology. Currently Frank is pursuing a Master's Degree at his alma mater.
Frank has been playing competitive soccer since he was very young. The highest level that Frank played was for the Club FC Zlin, where he had the opportunity to compete against the best players in his country, as well as other European countries. In his last year in the U15 category, Frank scored 41 goals and added 46 assists throughout a 26-match season!
Besides being an incredibly talented player, Frank is an outstanding teacher/coach. He is one of the youngest coaches in the Czech Republic. He is pursuing a UEFA Grassroots B license, and has been participating in many coaching clinics with a strong emphasis on youth soccer. Frank stresses the role of soccer in the development of children as individuals, educating them and setting the right examples both on and off the field. “An assist is as good as a goal" says Frank. "Soccer is a team sport. There is no I in TEAM." Frank exemplifies the true values that we emphasize in our CREST at Windridge every day.
